1일(현지시간) 로이터 통신은 프로페시아 부작용과 관련해 뉴욕 연방법원에 제기된 소송 관련 자료를 입수해 이같이 전했다. 프로페시아 제조사가 우울증 등의 부작용 우려가 있음에도 이를 숨겼다는 것이다. 의학계에서 프로페시아의 원재료인 피나스테리드를 복용할 경우 극단적 선택 및 우울감 위험이 높다는 테스트 결과가 잇따라 발표됐지만 FDA는 극단적 선택과 관련한 경고 문구를 의무화하지 않았다.
